About The Owner

Shawn Christopher Clements is an independent contractor who specializes in historic restoration. With 20 years experience he has worked on residential and commercial projects in Indiana and Kentucky. His main focus is to help restore homes and buildings to make them function for his clients needs without sacrificing the historic feel. Mr. Clements also researches the history of the home or building along with the past owners which helps give him a sense of the historic importance.

In researching the Dunham House, he found more then anyone could have imagined. “I first learned about the connection of the Dunham family to President Obama in late 2007. Needless to say, I was quite surprised at how direct the family line is. In doing the research, I found pictures, newspaper articles, deeds, and a painting of the house in its original state. History is a funny thing. It can tell us where we came from, who we are, and influence our lives. However, it is up to us to find it and understand it. It is my sincerest wish that this story could be used as an example to people of any age that we must take the time to care. If not, these things disappear along with our sense of heritage. I encourage anyone to research their family. You may be very surprised at what you will find. Maybe even a President”.
